Founded from a deep passion for the kiwi outdoors, and an intense desire to share it with others, Tuatara Tours has been organising incredible walking and cycling tours across New Zealand and the world for almost 2 decades.
Our staff and guides have organised adventure races, guided groups along ancient pilgrimage routes in Japan, and to monasteries perched high on Bhutanese cliffs.
We also guide many tours through our homeland, showing visitors some of New Zealand’s most secluded and beautiful locations.
All of our tours are fully guided by experts, and include all accommodation, food and luggage transport. Tuatara Tours is perfect for those who want to escape the main centres and explore the depths of the kiwi wilderness with experts.
Our mission is to help as many people as possible explore their environments in our favourite ways – walking and cycling.

“Really enjoyed the sense of having achieved the goal without too much difficulty. The tour was well organised and everything seemed to flow seamlessly. Well done!”

Our passion for our New Zealand home extends far beyond the walking and cycling trails – we have spent almost 2 decades showing off the mountains, beaches and towns of New Zealand, and we have been active in the promotion of environmental protection. We even adopted our very own Tuatara! His name is BP, and he lives at Christchurch’s Orana Wildlife Park.
Meet the experienced, friendly and passionate team that will take care of you on your next adventure.
If you’re interested in booking a tour, getting advice on exploring New Zealand, or have any questions at all, we’d love to hear from you!
